At the simplest level, music has the power to soothe and to calm the body and spirit and to enhance or alter moods. Music promotes healing through the vibrational energy of different tones or pitches of sound. Through exposure to specific music; the tissues, muscles and organs of the body can become aligned into harmony with the mind, body and spirit.
Play therapy is a form of therapy utilized with children generally between the ages of 3-11 (but can be used at any age depending on the individual’s stage of development). Through play, the individual has a way to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process. As children’s experiences and knowledge are often communicated through play, it becomes an important vehicle for them to know and accept themselves and others in the world. This approach is common to young children and can even be used with adults as a vehicle to express emotions and work through different stages of an individual’s trauma.
